Home recovering from COVID-19? Everyone has a recommendation on what you should do if you are home recovering from COVID-19. One common word that is buzzing around COVID-19 is “heat.” An article written in the Harvard Health publishing from the Harvard Medical School states that the “same things you do to feel better if you have the flu — getting enough rest, staying well hydrated, and taking medications to relieve fever and aches and pains — also help with COVID-19.”
When you have the flu hot soup is recommended to help you feel better. Yes you could open a can of soup and heat it in your micro wave but we all know that that is not the healthy choice.
EASY, DELICIOUS IMMUNE FIGHTING BLENDED SOUPS FROM A VITAMIX
The main ingredients in the recipes below – Garlic, carrot and sweet potato have immune fighting properties and are good to help boost the immune system which will help you fight the virus.
Garlic: contains allicin, is a compound which has many health benefits such as antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Research has shown that when people consume garlic on a regular basis they tend to get sick fewer times and have fewer episodes of the cold and flu.
Garlic can be found in various forms – cloves, paste, powders, supplements, extracts, and oils. However, it is best to eat it raw as the health benefits have not been altered. Heat tends to decrease or destroy the natural medicinal qualities
Carrots:Listed among the super foods Carrots contain antioxidants. The vitamin C in carrots is vital for immune support and healing. The veggie’s vitamin A supports the immune system, too, and plays an important role in forming and protecting mucous membranes, which act as barriers to keep germs out of the body.
Sweet potato: is rich in an antioxidant called beta carotene, which is very effective at raising blood levels of vitamin A. It is also rich inVitamin C. This antioxidant may decrease the duration of the common cold and improve skin health. The absorption of vitamin C and some antioxidants increases in sweet potatoes after cooking, while levels of other plant compounds may decrease slightly
